Antiques Genie provides informational, research, valuation,
presentation, and marketing-related services for antiques,
collectibles, decorative arts, and similar objects.
Depending upon the service selected, Genie may help identify
an object, research its history, discuss likely makers or periods,
evaluate relevant evidence, provide valuation information,
prepare marketplace listings or presentation material, or answer
related questions.
Different services provide different levels of research and
analysis. The scope and credit cost of a service are shown before
the service is submitted.
Information Is Provided for Guidance
Antique identification, attribution, dating, research, and valuation
frequently involve judgment and interpretation. Conclusions may depend
upon photographs, descriptions, measurements, records, comparable
objects, market information, and other evidence that may be incomplete,
inaccurate, unavailable, or open to differing interpretations.
Information provided by Antiques Genie is intended for informational
and educational purposes. Results are opinions and estimates based upon
the information and evidence available at the time and are not warranted
or guaranteed to be complete or correct.
Visitors remain responsible for deciding how to use the information
provided. When a decision requires formal authentication, a certified
appraisal, legal advice, tax advice, insurance documentation,
conservation advice, or another professional opinion, an appropriately
qualified professional should be consulted.
Helping Genie Help You
The quality of a result depends in part upon the quality and completeness
of the information submitted. Clear photographs, accurate measurements,
visible marks, condition details, provenance, and other relevant facts
can substantially improve a result.
By submitting photographs, descriptions, or other material to
Antiques Genie, you represent that you have the right to provide
that material for the requested service and that the information
you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
Credits and Paid Services
Some Antiques Genie services require credits. Credits may be purchased
through the site and used for eligible services according to the credit
cost displayed for the service at the time it is requested.
The price of a credit purchase and the number of credits included will
be shown before payment is submitted. The credit cost of a service will
be shown before that service is submitted for processing.
Credits are a means of purchasing eligible Antiques Genie services.
They are not currency, a bank account, or a stored-value financial
product and have no cash value except where otherwise required by law.
Billing note:
Charges for Antiques Genie credit purchases and paid services will appear
on your billing or credit card statement as 1-Antiques.
Your Wallet and Wallet Token
Purchased credits are associated with an Antiques Genie wallet.
A unique wallet token provides access to that wallet without requiring
a conventional username and password account.
Antiques Genie may remember your wallet in your browser as a convenience.
This is not required to use your credits. If your browser does not accept
or retain that information, you may access your wallet through your
wallet link or enter your wallet token where provided.
Your wallet token is an access credential.
Keep it private and protect it in the same manner you would protect
other information that provides access to something of value. A person
who obtains your wallet token may be able to access your wallet and use
its available credits.
You are responsible for taking reasonable care of your wallet token.
If you believe that a wallet token has been lost, disclosed, or used
without authorization, please contact Antiques Genie promptly.
We may invalidate, replace, or otherwise secure a wallet token when
reasonably necessary to protect the wallet or the service.
Refunds
Purchases of Antiques Genie credits are final and non-refundable except
where otherwise required by applicable law. Credits used to submit a
service for processing are not refundable merely because the resulting
information differs from what the customer expected or hoped to receive.
If a technical problem prevents Antiques Genie from providing a service
for which credits were deducted, please contact us. We may correct the
problem, provide the service, or restore the applicable credits when
appropriate.
Valuations and Market Information
Valuations are estimates or opinions based upon the information,
evidence, comparable sales, and market conditions available at the
time the service is performed.
Antique and collectible markets can change, and actual selling prices
may vary substantially according to condition, provenance, attribution,
venue, location, buyer interest, timing, commissions, fees, shipping,
and other circumstances.
A Genie valuation does not guarantee that an object can or will sell
for the stated amount. Unless expressly stated otherwise, it is not
a certified appraisal for insurance, estate, tax, lending, charitable
contribution, or legal purposes.
Marketplace and Marketing Services
Antiques Genie may provide tools that help prepare an object for market,
including marketplace descriptions, titles, presentation suggestions,
staged or enhanced imagery, and other marketing material.
These services are intended to assist the customer in presenting an
object. Unless a particular service expressly states otherwise,
Antiques Genie is not the seller, buyer, marketplace, auctioneer,
broker, shipping provider, payment processor, or party to any resulting
transaction.
Customers remain responsible for reviewing generated material before
publication and for ensuring that listings, descriptions, representations,
pricing, disclosures, photographs, and transaction terms are accurate
and appropriate for the marketplace being used.
Your Submitted Material
Photographs, descriptions, measurements, provenance, and other
information submitted to Antiques Genie may be processed as reasonably
necessary to provide the service requested, produce the resulting
report or material, and maintain the related service record.
Ownership of your original material remains with you. By submitting
it, you give Antiques Genie permission to process and use it as
reasonably necessary to provide the requested service.
Generated Material
Antiques Genie may generate reports, descriptions, titles, marketplace
copy, images, or other material as part of a requested service.
You are responsible for reviewing that material before relying upon,
publishing, or distributing it.
Because generated material may be based upon common facts, styles,
descriptions, public information, or automated processes, Antiques Genie
does not guarantee that generated material will be unique or that similar
material will not be produced for another user.
Using the Site
Antiques Genie is intended for ordinary, lawful use involving antiques,
collectibles, research, valuation, presentation, information exchange,
and related activities.
You may not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, attempt
unauthorized access to another user's wallet or information, or use
Antiques Genie in a manner that violates applicable law or the rights
of others.
Availability and Changes
Antiques Genie is an evolving service. Features, prices, credit costs,
availability, research methods, service descriptions, and these
Terms of Service may change as Genie learns new tricks.
We may maintain, modify, suspend, or discontinue portions of the service
when reasonably necessary. Updated terms become effective when posted
